Learning Objective: N/A Each participant will be given an course agenda, course flow chart with objectives, and

web address for Google Training Module 5: Sites to be used as a users guide during and after the course as a resource. This course PowerPoint presentation and its instructional videos will also be made available on the mercedlearn.org domain. The participants will also be informed that the will have ongoing support, as needed by the CAE Technology coaches and will be provided all necessary contact information. Assistant Facilitator responsibilities: Assistant will move about the room to help facilitator manage participant needs throughout the course. Assistant will follow the lead of the facilitator and provide assistance as needed and directed. Facilitator Script: 5 minutes 1. Facilitator will welcome participants and introduce course. 2. Facilitator will introduce self and have each participant briefly introduce him or her self. 3. Facilitator will have each participant log-on their computer and go to Google Chrome.

Learning Objective: Given a computer with internet access, domain log-in information, and instruction, the participant in the using Google sites to build teacher websites course should be able to log-in to their @mercedlearn account and go to Google sites. The participant will demonstrate this with a successful log-in using their user name and password. Facilitator Script: 15 minutes 1. Demonstrate how to login on @mercedlearn domain using assigned username and password. 2. Have participants go to their @mercedlearn gmail inbox and send facilitator an email at; smckee@mercedlearn.org. 3. Facilitator will use emails to create group and then send the group a survey used in slide 6. Interactivity/Navigation: Click on screen to go to slide 5. Learning Objective: N/A Facilitator Script: 15 minutes 1. Facilitator instructs participants to go back to their gmail inbox and open survey sent by facilitator to the group. 2. Participant should be able to answer 5 question survey and submit. 3. Facilitator will instruct participants to go to Google search and enter Google Module 5 Sites and open users guide for use through out the course as a resource. 4. Facilitator will collect group data from survey and copy and paste into wordle.com and create a word cloud to share with the group. 5. Facilitator will generate a discussion based on word cloud. Learning Objective: Given a computer with internet access, a brief presentation, and instruction, the participant in Google Sites for Education course should be able to select, create, format, and customize a site template for their website. The participant will demonstrate this by showing the trainer the customized template they have created and state the basis for their selection. Facilitator Script: 20 minutes 1. Video demonstration to go through process of how to create a website (5 min, 31 sec). 2. Facilitator to demonstrate and model initial set-up. 3. Facilitator to introduce Google Sites users guide for participants to use as a helpful resource to build and manage their Google Site. 4. Questions and answers as facilitator moves about to help participants individually in the initial set-up of their Google Site. Facilitator will demonstrate and model while the participants follow along at the same time. 3. Video provides an example of how to begin using the features and functions to begin to customize their home page. 4. Learning Objective: Given a computer with internet access, a brief presentation, and instruction, the participant in the Google Sites for Education course should be able to create and edit page templates. The participant will demonstrate this by creating three additional pages under their home page based on participant needs. Facilitator Script: 20 minutes 1. Video demonstration of how to delete unwanted pages on the template, add new pages based on participant needs , and begin to edit home page (5 min, 24 sec). 2. Facilitator will demonstrate and model while the participants follow along at the same time. 3. Facilitator will move about the room as participants continue to delete unwanted template pages, add new pages, and edit home page. Allow enough time for observation, questions, collaboration, and feedback. Interactivity/Navigation: Click play on media player to start video demonstration. After participants have finished editing their home page, click on screen to go to slide 12. Formative Assessments: Each participant should have a Google site with a partially edited home page and three new pages based on their needs. 11

Learning Objective: Given a computer with internet access, a brief presentation, and instruction, the participant in the Google Sites for Education course should be able to manage the pages they have created on their site. The participant will demonstrate this by editing each of the new pages types with specific changes for their needs. Facilitator Script: 20 minutes 1. Video demonstration of how to delete and add information on your home page, add logo, and images to complete the participants home page (4 min, 50 sec). 2. Facilitator will demonstrate and model while the participants follow along at the same time. 3. Facilitator will move about the room as participants continue to delete unwanted template page information, add new page information, logo, and images to complete home page. Learning Objective: Given a computer with internet access, a brief presentation, and instruction, the participant in the Google Sites for Education course should be able to manage the pages they have created on their site. The participant will demonstrate this by editing each of the new pages with specific changes for their needs. Facilitator Script: 20 minutes 1. Video demonstration of how to edit additional pages; delete and add information, change layout, and other editing features (5 min, 55 sec). 2. Facilitator will demonstrate and model while the participants follow along at the same time. 3. Facilitator will move about the room as participants providing assistance as participants begin to set-up and edit additional pages. Participants will continue to edit and set-up pages using Google Sites Users Guide , assistance, and collaboration until lunch break at 12:00pm. 4. Lunch break will be from 12:00 to 12:45 and lunch will be provided by MCOE/CAE. Participants will be encouraged to continue to work and share ideas with each other over the lunch break. Learning Objective: Given a computer with internet access, a brief presentation, and group exploration the participant in the Google Sites for Education course will be exposed to a variety of other more advanced options to enhance their site as they become more familiar with the use and management of their site, these options include; embedded gadgets, media types, and other app tools. The participant will be exposed to and discuss various options regarding gadgets, media, and apps and be encouraged to explore usage of options. Facilitator Script: 20 minutes 1. Video demonstration on the basics of gadgets , add an attachment, contact me, and how to access a variety of other gadgets .(3 min, 08 sec). 2. Facilitator will demonstrate and model while the participants follow along at the same time. 3. Facilitator will move about the room as participants providing assistance as participants begin to set-up and edit additional pages. Participants will continue to experiment and add useful gadgets. The participant will be exposed to and discuss various options regarding gadgets, media, and apps and be encouraged to explore usage of options. Facilitator Script: 20 minutes 1. Facilitator will demonstrate and model while the participants follow along at the same time; add images, media, videos, more gadgets, and app tools. Demonstrate some common items and lead participants into exploration. 2. Facilitator will move about the room as participants providing assistance as participants begin to set-up and edit additional pages. Participants will continue to experiment and add various media, useful gadgets, and apps. The participant will demonstrate this by editing each of the four page types with specific changes for their classes. Facilitator Script: 30 minutes Provide participants with remaining time to finalize their websites and ask questions and solicit help from facilitators. Interactivity/Navigation: At 2:00pm click screen and go to slide 18 to Share, Publish, and Protect. Formative Assessments: Each participant should have a basic Google site that can be used for their personal educational purposes, consisting of a home page and three other pages or more.

The participant will demonstrate this by sharing their site address with other participants and observing each others sites. Facilitator Script: 10 minutes 1. Describe how to make public or restrict access to website. 2. Instruct and demonstrate how to share your site with each member of the group. 3. Describe how to allow others to edit and collaborate on their site. 4. Have each participant verify that they can see each of the other participants website. Facilitator Script: 5 minutes Introduce participants to the CAE Technology Coaches Website and show advertisement and how to contact them for help when needed for a variety of instructional technology needs. Facilitator Script: 15 minutes Thank participants for attending the training. Pass out the end-of-course survey and have each participant fill it out. Tell them to stack them up on their way out after the completion of training at 4:00pm. Use remaining time to mingle and be available to talk with participants. After everyone has left, collect surveys, turn off all computers, and other equipment. Interactivity/Navigation: The final three slides contain all the references used for this project.
