Plants in the rain forest!

§ Bengal Bamboo: Grows best in moist places in temps

around 40 to 100 degrees F. grows to around 80ft and is a
grass.

§ Coconut tree: Symbolizes romance in the tropics. Grow 50

to 80 ft. Their feathery leaves can grow to 15 to 17 ft.

§ Jambu: Fruit tree. Small tree or large shrub. Grows around

10 to 20 ft in height.
Animals

§ Africa forest elephant: Newest breed of elephants. 12ft tall

at shoulders, large ears that come to a point at the
bottom, and long curvy tusks.

§ Jambu fruit dove: a plump dove with a small head. Beak is

either yellow or orange. Its eyes are located on the side of
their head, their about 9 in long and 1.5 ounces.

§ King Cobra: Lives in the clearings, bamboo fields, near

rivers, and swampy areas. It can grow 18ft and 20lbs.
When a cobra is born its venom is as strong as a adults.
Strong enough to kill a human.
Climate

§ Very humid, caused by rain fall

§ Rainfall measures to about 250cm

§ Rains 90 times per year and strong sun shines between

storms.

§ The rainforest gets more direct heat because its by the

equator

§ The sun warms the land and the sea. The water
evaporates and then the clouds drop the rain. This is an
endless cycle

§ The temperature reaches to 77°F and stays this way year

round

§ The temperature never drops below 65°F

§ It rains about 4inches of rain a month 50% of the rain is its

own evaporation
Understory of Rainforests

§ This is an example of a microclimate:

§ The plants that make up the understory of a rainforest

have adapted to the small amount of sunlight that they
receive.

§ Ferns and mosses do well, along with epiphytes.

§ These are plants that grow on other plants.

§ They can be found growing on branches of tall trees where

they can get sunlight.

§ There are many different plant species found in the rain

forest.
