A noun that names any person,

place, or thing is a common noun. A noun that names a particular person, place, or thing is a proper noun.

Singular and Plural Nouns


A noun that names only one person,

place, or thing is called a singular noun. A noun that names more than one person, place, or thing is called a plural noun.

Plural Nouns
Add s to most singular nouns to make them plural.

Plural Nouns Add es to a singular noun that ends with s, x, ch, or sh.

If a noun ends with a vowel and a y, add s.
