The Honorable David R. Obey, Chairman

The Honorable Jerry Lewis, Ranking Member
Committee on Appropriations
H-218, The Capitol
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Chairman Obey and Ranking Member Lewis:

I am requesting funding for Training the Next Generation Weather Forecasters in fiscal year 2010.

The entity to receive funding for this project is:

San Jose State University
200 East Santa Clara St.
Floor4
San Jose, CA 95112

The funding would be used for developing a field experience class to broaden and enhance the
undergraduate experience of B.S. Meteorology students so they will be able to recognize and
forecast as wide an array of weather phenomena as is likely to be experienced in California in
the next 30 years which is expected to change as global climate change continues.

I certify that neither I nor my spouse has any financial interest in this project.

Sincerely,

Michae M. Honda
Member of Congress
