A Thomasville woman has been charged with felony child abuse after Thomasville City school officials notified law enforcement of possible abuse on Thursday. Brittany Colson Pettis, 24, of 915-O Blair Street, Thomasville, has been charged with felony child abuse after the investigation revealed she used an electrical cord to discipline her 6-year-old back in August. Pettis received a $10,000 secured bond and was placed in the Davidson County Jail. Court date is set for 10/30/2013 in Thomasville. Davidson County Department of Social Services has removed the child from the home, said Det. Jaime Foley. The child, along with a sibling, has been placed with a family member.
