Mapping Our Week & Beyond

October 14th- Reflection Entries Due Words by Kate Banks. We are going to be focusing on story October 17th & 18th- Teacher Work Days sequence and questioning. Third graders should be reading for at least 20 minutes each night. Our Vocabulary Words No School for the week are: collect, scrambled, orders, sorted, ragged, rapidly, continued, darted

Writing: Poetry

This week, we will begin poetry. This will be one of two units on poetry that we will study this year. Students will create their own Cinquain and Acrostic Poems. We will study figurative language and how to effectively implement it into our poetry.

Math: Addition/Subtraction with Regrouping


We will finish up our unit on Addition with regrouping. The test will be on Wednesday. Later in the week we will begin estimating differences and subtracting 2 digit numbers with regrouping.

Social Studies: Regions of South Carolina


We are continuing our study of the regions of South Carolina. I hope that your child can name all six for you in order! We will learn the characteristics of the Inner and Outer Coastal Plains and the Coastal Zone, as well as how geography affects how people live. Our test will be this Friday, October 11.

Notes from the Teacher Graded Work folders come home on Tuesday night. Please sign and return on Wednesday. Keep all the tests and papers that come home! Are you getting emails from me weekly? If not, please send me a note with your current email address and I will add you to my class email distribution list.. Conferences: I will be sending home a conference schedule tomorrow for you to indicate your first, second, and third choices.
