Fifth Grade
NECAP updates
Fifth graders have been working really hard on assessments for the past two weeks. They only have two more days of NECAP to take ever again. Next year Vermont will be implementing Common Core based assessments. Dont forget that a good nights rest and healthy meals will help your student finish strong!

We should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward. (Akan concept of Sankofa)

Harvest Time!!
It's harvest time again and fifth grade is in full swing. Student did an excellent job working diligently on the reading and math NECAPs. During our other class times, we've been harvesting, practicing writing open responses, and solving math puzzles. Weve also started our Friday fix and finish and choice activities. The Friday afternoon activities are dependent on completion of homework assignments given for the week. Ask your student more for details. Gleaning on Tuesdays was tons of fun! We visited Harlows orchard and picked apples to send to the Vermont Food Bank in Brattleboro. These apples were distributed to various food pantries around the area. Guess how many pounds of apples we picked as a fifth grade?

Personal Learning Goals

During the next few weeks, we will be working to develop personal learning goals for the year ahead. Look for two communications next week. One will be to schedule a time to meet on Monday Oct. 28th and the other will be to gather our ideas strength, interests, concerns about your student. We will use all our ideas to develop a personalized learning plan for every student.
