Events - Think of the inquiry cycle What activities did we do in this unit? Did we have any visitors? How did they help us understand the central Idea? We made posters to show our U.O.I (Unit Of Inquiry). They described what communities were. They also showed what communities we are in and what our role was in them. We had parents come in and tell us what their communities were, what were theyre goals and how they were a successful community.
Action What action did your group take and what were you personally responsible for?
We had groups which each did a different action to show our grade 5 communitiy goals and mission statement. My group was the digital/website community.It was composed of me(Dilip), Ty, Sabeeh and Ellie. We had the video community to give us our video. They were composed of David, Philip and Kento. We made links to our website on both grade 5 blogs. We put on the mission statement and the goals. We put on our central idea. We even put on the community denition. Eventually, it was nished!!

Conclusion - personal comment What did you think or feel about this unit? Is there anything you would change? I think our community website was a great success and the help of the video community was really helpful. I rst did not like U.O.I that much but when we had to make a website ,that would also been seen by parents ( which to me seemed really nice), I absolutely loved it! I will say, without hesitation, that my favourite thing the teachers organised for for us, is when we were put in groups to, basically make our grade 5 community stuff be known by, if we could, the whole wide school from the little people of pk1 to the giants of grade 12.
