Materials and/or Equipment: Piano keyboard Five Little Monkeys storybook Welcome Song, Clap Your Hands, and Five Little Monkeys on CD Activities and Procedures: Anticipatory Set: Remind students of echoing and perform echo warm up (students repeat patterns of clapping, patting, etc. by teacher) Review Spanish words and sing Welcome Song (Bienvenidos) Lesson Sequence: Play recording of Clap Your Hands. Teach Clapping Song in chunks by echoing Sing Clapping Song with CD Add motions on the beat for each verse (clapping, stomping, and nodding) Introduce and read Five Little Monkeys story to students Play recording of Five Little Monkeys song. Teach Five Little Monkeys song in chunks by echoing Sing Five Little Monkeys with CD Add hand motions (numbers with fingers, telephone, and disapproving finger wave If time allows, review and chant Three Little Muffins Closure: Remind students of the importance of the steady beat in music and ask students to try to clap, pat, or nod to find the steady beat in music they hear during the week. Modifications for Individual Differences: Modify movements as needed for students with physical disabilities of any kind. Evaluation: Evaluate performance based on participation and active involvement with the songs and associated movements. Assignments: None
