What if Barbie was a

REAL PERSON?
In this activity you will use proportions to get an idea of what
Barbie would look like if she were the height of an average woman
(65” tall).

Using a Barbie, a piece of string and a tape measure, find the following
measurements in inches. Because some of the measurements are small,
use the string as an aid:

Height Waist Foot length neck Head Hips

circumference

1. If the average height of a woman is 65”, write a proportion and

find the measurement of Barbie’s waist at that height.

2. Do the same for the other measurements, then fill in the table:

3. So if Barbie were a 65” tall woman, use full sentences to
describe how she would differ from the average 65” tall woman.
