Good morning class!

Good morning, ma’am

Let’s start our day with a prayer. Can

someone lead the prayer?

Again, good morning class! How are you

today?
Fine Ma’am!
That’s good to know class

Let me check your attendance first. When

I call your name, please say present.

Last meeting, we discussed about take

client’s body measurements, right?
Yes, ma’am

What is body measurement again?

Body measurements are items of the
body needed to be measured and used in
pattern drafting.
Very Good!

Body measurements should be taken

accurately.

What are the three (3) types of

measurements? Can you enumerate them?
The three (3) types of measurements are:
➢ Vertical Measurements
➢ Horizontal Measurements
➢ Circumferential Measurements

Brilliant!

Can you give some vertical

measurements?
Figure
Bust Height
Sleeve Length
Skirt Length
Hip Depth
Brilliant!

What about horizontal measurements, will

give you give some?
Shoulder
Bust Width
Across Chest
Across Back
Excellent!

Will you give some circumferential

measurements?
Bust
Waist
Arm Hole
Sleeve Girth
Hips
Very good!
Any question about taking client’s body
measurements?
None, ma’am

Are you sure?

Yes, ma’am

B. Motivation
Before the lesson proper let’s have an
activity first, in this activity all you have to
do is to guess the puzzle picture that will
be flashed on the screen. Just open your
cameras, unmute your microphones say
“skrt!” if you know the answer. Those
students who can answer correctly will
receive a plus points on our next quiz.

Did you get the mechanics class?

Yes, ma’am

Any questions?
None, ma’am

You all did great! Class what have you

noticed? I noticed that there are some tools/
materials that are used for pattern
drafting.
Very good!
What else?
I noticed that there are some words that
are related to skirt pattern drafting.

Exactly!

Now let’s proceed to the discussion.

C. Presentation

I know you are all familiar with Pattern

drafting because we already done doing
this when we discussed about blouse.
Yes, ma’am

Pattern drafting is very important because

it serve as a blue-print in sewing and to
make accurate measurements and to
prevent errors. For Today’s lesson we will
talk about skirt pattern drafting. But before
that let us discuss first some information
about pants.

Will you read what’s on the slide?

Skirt is a type of garment that covers

one’s lower half of body. It hangs from
the waist and can be of any length of
legs.
Skirt can be made out of a single piece of
material. But most of the skirts are
introduced with dart, gores, pleats or
panels to create a different look.

Do you get it class?

Yes, ma’am
Now, let’s discuss the different lengths of
skirt.

We have:
Micro
Mini
Above the knee
Knee
Mid-calf
Below mid-calf
Lower calf
Evening
Floor

What is you preferred skirt lengths and

why?
I prefer knee because for me, this length
and not too short and not too long. Also,
I’m comfortable wearing it.
Thank you for that answer. Always
remember that comfortability is important.
Now, let’s proceed to the part of basic
skirt.

We have four parts of basic skirts. Will

you read the first one?
Waistline

Thank you!

The second one, kindly read?

Break line

Thank you!

Kindly read the third one?

Movement

Thank you!

Last but not the least, will you read?

Sweep
Thank you!

Keep in my mind that skirts have basic

parts. Do you understand class?
Yes, ma’am
Are you sure?
Yes, ma’am
We need to prepare first the tools and
materials that we will used in skirt pattern
drafting.

These are the tools and materials that we

will used.

Kindly read the first one?

Pattern paper

Thank you!

How about the next one?

Pencil

What is the use of pencil?

The use of pencil is for markings

Thank you!
We need to use pencil so that when we
make mistake, we can easily erase it.
Will you read the next?
Right Triangle
Right triangle is use for what?
For making perpendicular lines
Very good!

How about the next tool?

Ruler

Thank you!
Ruler is used for squaring or extending the
lines in our measurements.

Will you read the next one?

Hip curve

Very good! It is used in shaping the hips

and slightly curve parts
The last tool, will you read?
Tape measure
The reason why we need to use tape
measure is to get the measurements
accurately both body and flat surface such
as on pattern.

Do you get it class?

Yes, ma’am
Last meeting, I informed you to prepare
your tools materials to be used in pattern
drafting, kindly open your camera and
show them to us.

(Call the students one by one)

(Students will open their camera and
show their tools and materials)
Before we proceed to pattern drafting be
mindful about the safety precautions that I
always remind you.

Will you please read?

1. Tie your hair.
Thank you!

Why do we need to tie our hair?

To avoid distraction while working.
Exactly!
And also, to prevent our hair from
hanging.

The second one, kindly read.

2. Wear flat shoes.
Thank you!

What do you think we need to wear flat

shoes?
So that we can move easily.

Brilliant!
Kindly read the third one
3. Remove all your jewelries and
accessories.
Thank you!
We need to remove all your jewelries and
accessories specially in our hands so that
you can work properly.

The fourth one, will you read?

4. Do not seat while working.
Thank you!
We need to stand while working in able
for us to move freely and properly.
Also, we should follow the proper posture
to avoid fatigue.

One of our safety precautions is to follow

the right posture, and I always mentioned
that in pattern drafting we should be in
standing position so that we can move
widely and freely. But considering the fact
that we are working at home and probably
the available table at home is not as high
as the pattern drafting table, with that if
you feel more comfortable in sitting
position especially if your table is too low,
then it will totally okay.

Last but not the least, will you read?

5. Use the tools appropriately.
Thank you!
For example, we are using a sharp pencil,
we need to use it properly to avoid
accident.

Any question class?

None, ma’am
Always remember the reminders and
safety precautions while you do your work
to avoid accidents.

Did you get it class?

Yes, ma’am

Let’s start. First, fold your pattern paper

like this (demonstrate how to fold).
Okay so, fold your pattern now so we can
do pattern drafting simultaneously later.
(Students fold their pattern paper)

For me to monitor if we can proceed to the

next step, kindly click the raise hand icon. (Students click raise hand icon after
And if you have question just unmute your folding their pattern)
microphone to ask.

While folding your pattern paper, here are

the measurements needed for drafting a
skirt:
Hip depth
Skirt length
Waistline
Hips
Bust Distance

Okay, I think all are done now.

So, since I told you to prepare the

measurement needed last meeting, you
may use your client’s measurements but
for those who have not taken yet their
client’s body measurements just use these
(pointing to the written measurements)

Any question?

None ma’am
Let us now proceed with the first step.

1. Since you already fold your pattern

paper earlier measure 2 inches from the
center fold and make a perpendicular line
using right triangle. Mark the corner as
point A.

In my case allow me to use marker so you

can see it clearly.

The reason why we measure 2 inches

before making perpendicular line is for the
allowance of back pattern.

Do you get it, class?

Yes, ma’am
2. From point A, measure hip depth or 7
inches downward. Mark it as point B.
The length of the skirt is depended on the
client’s desire.

Do you get it class? Yes, ma’am

3. A-C skirt length measurement

downward.

4. Square points B and C right sidewards.

A

Make sure that you extend the lines

straightly.
Do you get it?
Yes, ma’am
5. A-D is ¼ waistline measurement plus 1
inch right sideward.

6. B-E is ¼ hips measurements right

sideward
7. C-F is ¼ hips measurements right
sideward.

8. F-G, measure 1cm upward

Make sure to use your tape measure

properly to make the measurement
accurately.
Do you understand? Yes, ma’am

9. A-H is ½ bust distance right sideward

10. From point H, measure ½ inch on both

side and mark it as point I and J.

Make you measure the both sides equally

class.
Do you get it?
Yes, ma’am
11. H – K, 4 inches downward.

•K

12. D- L, 1cm upward.

Connect all the points.

We need to connect all points correctly to

get the best results.

That is the process on how we pattern

draft a skirt. Do you have any questions or
clarifications?
None, ma’am
Are you sure?
Yes, ma’am
I’ll give you 3minutes to finalize your
pattern then you can submit it on Google
classroom.

D. Application
The students will perform the steps in Pattern Drafting of Skirt simultaneously
with the teacher.

E. Teaching Technique
The teacher will discuss and demonstrate the step-by-step procedure in pattern
drafting of a skirt simultaneously with the students.
F. Generalization
This lesson introduces the skirt, the part of basic skirt and its pattern drafting. The
tools and materials used in this process are Pattern Paper, Pencil, Right Triangle, Ruler,
Hip Curve and Tape Measure. It is demonstrated step-by-step simultaneously so that the
students will be able to cope up with the process.

G. Evaluation
The students will be graded based on the following scoring rubrics
