I. Essential Ideas
1. Vertical Measurement is taken from the top of the body figure to its base. Examples are
figure back, figure front, bust depth, length of the shirt, length of the sleeve & length of the
skirt/pants.
2. Horizontal Measurement is taken from the left of the bodice to the right bodice. Examples
are shoulder, front chest, distance between bust, & back width.
3. Circumferential Measurement is taken around the body parts needed in making the
garment. Examples are bust, waist, first hips & second hips.
