Its applied definition: Lengthening of
the sound with a letter of the medd
letters.

The Original Medd

Its definition: It is the medd (lengthening) that


without which the letter cannot exist (the timing)

According to timing
a) The Exchange Lengthening
Its definition: The letter hamzah
precedes any of the three medd letters.

It called exchanged because of
changing a hidden second Alif into
wow or ya

b) The Lesser Connective Lengthening

It is a Medd that comes from the vowel


of belonging ha which between two
vowels

But if there is Sokon before the ha,


the rule doesnt apply EXCEPT

c)The Substitute Lengthening

It is substituting a lengthened alif for the


Tanween with a fath, when stopping on
it.
