Studying abroad and experiencing a culture shock

If it is your first time abroad you may find that telling in requires a bit of effort. At some stage you will probably use the term culture shock to explain your reactions. You cant stop it but you can minimize its effect. You may settle in more easily if you know in advance how you are likely to feel after your arrival.

Nipan Maniar, a senior lecturer of creative and cultural industries and international coordinator or at the University of Portsmouth, has devised a computer game to help overseas students deal with the culture shocks of school and university lite in Britain. 1.
