Let Us Study

Have you watched a musical play? Most of these performances are regulary
shown by professional performers at Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) in
Manila which made it difficult for us to watch live specially by students. It is a good
thing though that some of these performances are now available to stream online
just like the famous musical play entitled Ang Huling El Bimbo which was uploaded
in YouTube last April-March. Perfect to binged watch during the quarantine days.
A musical play is a shape of a theatrical presentation (Cipriano, 2018). It is
popular because of the combination of songs, spoke dialogue, acting and dancing
which makes it extra endearing and entertaining.
An idea, including the emotion content of a musical is presented through the
use of music and drama elements like dialogue, space, stage, scenery, costume and
special effects.
Ang Huling El Bimbo: Music Play
An idea is matched in a musical play with an instrumental music or song wh
ich carries a similar theme and is used either as an accompaniment or as a carrier
of dialogue. The concept that emerges or is accompanied by music is then introduc
ed for schedule presentation in live performances or filmed one (Cipriano, 2018)

Ang Huling El Bimbo is a story of friendship told through the songs of the
most iconic Pinoy rock band from the 90’s. It is an original story that should resonate
with people who understand how the powerful bond between friends shapes our lives.
It will also be a nostalgic journey, driven by songs that have become part of the
collective Pinoy psyche.

Produced by Resorts World Manila and Full House Theater Company, Ang
Huling El Bimbo is written by Dingdong Novenario, and directed and choreographed
by Dexter Santos (https://www.rwmanila.com/web/ang-huling-el-bimbo/).
