Alicia Keys: No One


Artist/Song Biography Alicia Keys was born and raised in New York City and began taking piano lessons when she was seven. Seen as a prodigy in the eyes of the public, she was accepted into the Professional Performance Arts School of Manhattan, where she majored in choir. At the age of 16 in 1998 she graduated as the valedictorian of her school and was then accepted to Columbia University, however she declined the offer in order to pursue her music career. Alicia Key received 5 Grammys for her first album Songs in A Minor released in 2001, and then later won 4 more Grammys in 2005 for her album Diary. Although Alicia Keys albums won several Grammy awards, her song No One won Best R&B Song at the 2008 Grammy Awards while at the same time receiving the award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Although performed with John Mayer at the 2008 Grammy Awards, No One was co-written and co-produced by Alicia Keys Kerry Krucial Brothers. The album As I Am featuring the song No One was the biggest selling album in North America in 2008. Her song No One is about, as quoted by her, the way that in relationships, so many things are around you all the time to try to distract you, and even though people may talk and say whatever they may want to say, you cant let anyone get in the way of this (relationship) (MTV Canada).
