how to fold the $a$er once or twice to et different t)$es of s)mmetr)+ ? even made $#r$osef#l mista-es to show the st#dents it was alri ht to mess somethin #$ and that the) co#ld woraro#nd it+ &e%t time ? teach this lesson ? wo#ld li-e to wor- on m) demonstration+ ? thin- if ? had done it at a table and had the st#dents ather aro#nd. ? wo#ld have been able to show the ste$s more s#ccessf#ll)+ ? wo#ld have had more room to s$read ever)thin o#t. rather than #sin 2#st m) la$+ ? as-ed the st#dents to choose one emotion and demonstrate it thro# h #sin E:4 colors+ ? dismissed the st#dents b) tables to $ic- o#t their constr#ction $a$er colors+ There was not m#ch of a color selection. nor was there eno# h of each color+ Some st#dents had to rethintheir color scheme beca#se certain colors ran o#t 7#ic-l)+ ?deall). it wo#ld be m#ch better if ever) st#dent was able to $ic- o#t the three colors the) first wanted to #se+ As the st#dents started wor-in . ? felt li-e ? co#ld not et to st#dents fast eno# h+ The) all had different -inds of 7#estions thro# ho#t the class $eriod. b#t ? tho# ht ? was not able to hel$ ever)one at once+ L#c-il). m) mentor teacher was there to hel$ the st#dents+ ? -now that this will come with more $ractice. b#t at least ? am aware of somethin that ? need to wor- on oin into the f#t#re+ The st#dents #sed the rest of the class time. as well as the ne%t class meetin to com$lete the $ro2ects+ Some st#dents finished the first da). while others too- all of the time iven to them to com$lete the $ro2ect+ 9n the second da) ? introd#ced the writin reflection+ ? wrote fo#r different $rom$ts on the white board to hel$ et them thin-in + 3an) of them did not seem ver) e%cited abo#t the writin . b#t b) the end of the lesson all of the st#dents had at least written somethin down abo#t the $ro2ect+ A few s#r$rises ? fo#nd while teachin m) lesson was 2#st how different st#dents are from each other+ A few st#dents were 2#st not confident in what the) were doin . so the) sort of sh#t down+ ? -e$t enco#ra in them to -ee$ oin and 2#st to tr)+ ?t was not that the) did not have the s-ills. the) were 2#st not motivated beca#se the) felt the) co#ld not s#cceed+ Some of the st#dents reall) ras$ed the idea of lin-in emotions to colors+ 9ne irl as-ed if she co#ld do 2 emotions A calm and ener etic : in one artwor-+ ? told her if she co#ld fi #re o#t what colors she co#ld choose to ma-e it wor-. then she was allowed to do it+ She came bac- with the idea to #se a li ht )ellow color beca#se it was bri ht li-e the feelin ener etic. b#t still soft eno# h to be calm+ ? was ver) im$ressed with this hi her level thin-in that she #sed and she was one of the st#dents most en a ed with the $ro2ect. seemin to have f#n ma-in desi ns o#t of the $a$er+ Another irl wrote a $a e lon reflection abo#t the $ro2ect and described how dar- colors wo#ld not fit with her theme of ;ha$$)+< ?t was nice to see how she was connectin the ideas of colors $ro2ectin emotions+ 0inall). ? was s#r$rised that none of the st#dents had an)thin ne ative to sa) in their reflections+ 9ne $rom$t ? ave them was to name somethin the) did not li-e abo#t the $ro2ect+ All of them said there was nothin the) disli-e. which s#r$rised me iven the fact how different the st#dents are+ ?t definitel) ave me confidence headin into the f#t#re that ? can come #$ with $ro2ects that can et most st#dents. if not all. en a ed with the $ro2ects+
