Stockton- James Mousalimas, current Deputy Superintendent of the San Joaquin County Office of Education, today announced that Michael Gillespie, long time Lodi area educator and former principal of Joe Serna Jr. Charter School, who had a strong 3 rd place showing in the recent June Primary Election, has endorsed his campaign to become the next County Superintendent of Schools. Gillespie currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Gateway Community Charter Schools in the Sacramento area.
I ran to become San Joaquin Countys Superintendent of Schools to bring principled leadership for our schools, our students, and our parents, said Gillespie. With my departure from the campaign, James Mousalimas is clearly the best candidate for the job and will do much toward the continuing improvement of schools and districts in SJ County. He has my highest recommendation and I urge all of my supporters to get behind James Mousalimas come November.
The Gillespie endorsement adds growing momentum to the Mousalimas campaign, coming off a strong 1st place showing in the June Primary Election for County Superintendent of Schools, where he garnered 43.26% of the vote.
Along with being a long time county educator, James Mousalimas also sits on the board of the Community Partnership for Families and serves as Vice-Chair of the Measure S Oversight Committee. A former Peace Corps volunteer and graduate of UC Berkeley, the College of New Jersey and CSU Stanislaus, James is married to his wife of 24 years. Together they have three children, all of whom attended, or currently attend, local public schools.
