Re: Auburn Police Department Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident

On Friday November 27, 2009 at approximately 8:35am Auburn Police Officers along
with Auburn Fire Personnel were dispatched to the intersection of North Street (SR 34)
and the west bound Arterial (SR 5&20) on the report of a three car motor vehicle accident
involving personal injury.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 2010 Toyota Camry being operated by Barbara A.

Kraushaar, a 55 year old Auburn resident was traveling north bound on North St. when
she failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of North St. and Arterial West
subsequently striking a westbound vehicle traveling on the Arterial West. Kraushaar’s
vehicle struck a 2006 Ford Taurus being operated by 56 year old Colleen A. Trousdale of
Port Byron, New York. The Trousdale vehicle then struck a third vehicle, a 2002 Dodge
pick-up truck that was sitting at the red light facing southbound on North Street.

Trousdale was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital for stabilization and then
transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse, NY where she succumbed to the injuries
she suffered in the accident. A ten year old passenger in Trousdale’s vehicle was also
transported to University Hospital for minor facial injuries she suffered but these injuries
are not considered life threatening. Kraushaar was also transported to University
Hospital and at the time of this press release her condition was stable but she was under
going additional testing. The driver of the Dodge pick-up truck, a Cicero, NY resident
was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital and later released with minor injuries.

An accident reconstruction was conducted by Auburn Police and Cayuga County

Sheriff’s Office personnel and the investigation is on-going. Anyone with additional
