Demerit
Demerits are given to members for infractions. Examples of infractions: chewing gum, leaving class or group without permission, being reprimanded by any staff member, wandering the hall instead of completing service hours. Other examples will be given in class. Each demerit is logged and 10 points are deducted from students overall grade. If a student loses 20 points worth of demerits in one quarter they will be removed from LSC and not eligible to return to class.
Service Hours
Part of being in LSC is completing service hours once a week. Students will have the opportunity to complete these during class time. Students are required to inform their group leader which teacher they plan on going to during service hours. Students must stay with that teacher for at 40 minutes in order to count their service hour. If a student is in the wrong place during service hours or roaming the hallways they will receive a demerit. Each service hour not completed in a quarter will result in a 5 point deduction from your grade.
Behaviors It is a privilege to be a part of Student Council and we expect ALL LSC members to LEAD by example. LSC members are held to high standards by all staff members and are expected to follow all school rules. We expect students to behave properly within the LSC class, while on LSC assignments and during the school day. Students behavior is closely monitored by both LSC Advisors. If we feel a student is behaving improperly, both advisors will meet with the student to discuss their behavior. Students will be given the opportunity to correct these behaviors. If the behavior continues and improvement is not seen, students may be removed from class.
TRIP All LSC members have the opportunity to attend the LSC Trip. Student/Parent will be responsible for trip payments. Trip payments are not refundable under any circumstances. Because we cannot do fundraisers for the trip, LSC pays a portion of the trip to help keep the cost down. More trip information will be coming out shortly.
DANCES (SEE DANCE SHEET) All LSC members are expected to attend the dances. If a student cannot attend a school dance, a written note from their parents must be turned in to an Advisor at least 1 week in advance. Emails will not be accepted. It is your responsibility to turn your note in on time. You will be responsible for one shift at each dance. LSC members do have to pay to enter the dance but will receive a discounted price. You must attend at least 4 of the 5 dances in order to be considered for LSC next year. However we would like to see you attend all of them. In order to be fair with dance shifts you will receive a dance group sheet.
REMOVAL from LSC during the current school year Students will be removed from LSC if they are suspended for ANY reason, If they receive an F in ANY class, If they do not maintain a C average in all classes, If they receive 20 or more points of demerits in one quarter. If a student is removed for any reason, they will not be able to return to LSC until the next school year. These are non-negotiable.
Future LSC Considerations Students academic performance, participation in their color group and in their committee group, disciplinary status, attitude, completion of service hours, attending LSC events and completion of dance shifts will all be taken into consideration for returning to Student Council the following year.
