tandard PDC bits that are designed for drilling environments outside
of Russia normally dont perform well in most Russian applications.
Overly aggressive cutting structures cause too much torque while the
nozzle arrangements cause unacceptably high pressure drops. The
result is sub-optimal runs and frequent bit trips. The Viking range of PDC
(polycrystalline diamond compact) products from Smith Bits is designed
in Russia specifically to overcome these problems and deliver outstanding
drilling performance for Russian operations.
Viking PDC bits feature a unique cutting structure which enables them to
drill efficiently at low torque and low hydraulic power. This makes them
especially suitable for land drilling operations where rig constraints provide
for a challenging drilling environment.
