The other genres of magazine that I could choose would be alternative/indie

rock, R&B or pop music.
Alternative/indie rock
The magazine that I would base my magazine on in this genre would be
NME. This is because it includes different artists of different genres within the
magazine for example:
NME would be stereotyped as a rock music
magazine as this is the main genre of music that it
focusses on although in this case the stereotype has
been subverted and the main genre of this issue is
hip hop because the main image is of a hip
hop/R&B artist. I would base my magazine around
NME because it is a very popular magazine and has
a very wide reader/customer base. I would do this
genre of music because I know a lot about different
genres and I could include them in my magazine.

R&B
The magazine that I would base my magazine on of this genre would be Vibe
magazine. This is because it focusses mainly on R&B and hip hop music which
I know a lot about and is one of my favourite genres of music. For example:
Vibe magazine includes many different hip hop
and R&B artists for example in this case it is
Kanye West who is a very popular artist of this
genre. I would base my magazine around this
one as it has many different aspects to it that I
like for example the colour scheme and the fact
the artist is in front of the masthead which shows
their importance. It is also a very popular
magazine which is what I would want my
magazine to be.

Pop music
The magazine I would base my magazine around if I was going to do this
genre would be Top of the Pops magazine. This is because it is more
sophisticated than the other pop music magazines and does not look as
immature. For example:
You can easily tell that this magazine is
targeted at young teenagers as it doesnt
have as many bright colours and isnt as
immature looking as what other pop music
magazines on the market look like. I would
base my magazine around this as it is a
popular music magazine and looks well
made. It also fits in with the correct genre as
it includes artists such as Cher Lloyd and One
Direction.
