About the Author

Dubasi Govardhana Rao is currently working as scientist and Head of CFTRI (Central Food Technological Research Institute) Resource centre at Hyderabad for the last
18 years. He obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay after completing BTech and MTech in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University, Waltair.
Subsequently, he did an MBA (Strategic Management) from the Institute of Public
Enterprise (OU), Hyderabad, in the year 2002.
After a brief stint at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, he started his professional
career in the year 1982 as a Scientist at the erstwhile Regional Research Laboratory
(presently known as NEIST) at Jorhat, Assam. He then shifted to CFTRI, Mysore, and
later to Hyderabad.
Dr Rao has put in 28 years of professional experience specializing in homogeneous catalysis, food
processing, food engineering and bioprocessing. He has published 38 research papers in national and
international journals in the elds of Chemical Engineering, Food Technology and Biotechnology, and
presented papers in a number of national conferences. He also has 7 patents to his credit.
Dr Rao is a visiting faculty in a number of Indian universities teaching biochemical engineering, food
engineering and chemical engineering. He is also a member of the Board of Studies (BOS) in a number of
universities in the faculties of biotechnology and food technology. He was also an expert member for syllabusformulation committees of various universities for the biotechnology and food technology curricula.
