Curriculum Plan

Title of Lesson__My Fingerprints____Targeted Domain _language, social, fine motor skills

Goal:
To teach children about fingerprints
Objective:
Children will make fingerprints with the ink pad and learn the use of a
magnifying glass.
Transition Plan
Teacher will ask children about what they know about fingerprints during
circle time, before the activity. (optional: teacher can read a book that
involves fingerprinting or finding things with a magnifying glass.)
Procedure
Teacher will place ink pads on each table (one ink pad to every two
children), paper and magnifying glasses. Children will press one of their
fingers onto an ink pad. Gently and slowly roll they will roll their finger
onto the paper. Children will make a print of each finger. Teacher will ask
questions; compare fingers prints with the child next to them, using the
magnifying glass. Children will count how many prints do they see.

Advanced Preparation:
Teacher will print out 15 copies for children

Developmental Benefits:

Curriculum Plan
Children will build their language and vocabulary skills; they will learn
about fingerprints and the use of a magnifying glass. Children will enhance
their cognitive skills by placing each finger in order on the paper. Handeye coordination.
