In response to CONTRACTOR request to COMPANY to review the concrete curing time to help in the
catch up schedule on Dec xx/xx, COMPANY reviewed the curing period developed by CONTRACTOR
in sec 9 in the project specs 256-82-00-CI-TS-NA-000009 Job Specification For Supply Concrete
Materials Mix And Construction based on sec 2.9.1 in ACI308R code. As per the code, when the
development of a given strength or durability is critical to the performance of the concrete, the minimum
duration of curing period should be established on the basis of tests of the required properties
performed with the concrete mixture.
COMPANY reviewed the durability test results received after 42 days and the compression strength test
results at 7 days, all results shows very good results for both durability and strength compare to the
project requirements. Accordingly, COMPANY suggest to reduce the curing time to minimum 7 days for
GGBS concrete or until 70% of the specified compressive strength is obtained, whichever is longer, that
would help the CONTRACTOR to catch up the schedule.
CONTRACTOR can adopt this immediately and respond to the CRS and revise the project specs
accordingly.
