Grade One Homework

February 2nd 6th

All Homework will be sent home on Mondays and collected on Fridays
Sight Words: keep, zoo, gave, had, house
RAH RAH!: Read At Home each night for at least 10 minutes from either Raz Kids, your
take home books or Student Biography. Please color in the title of the book read. It is
okay to have your child read the same book more than once; this can really help with
fluency. Fluency- is the ability to read text smoothly, accurately, automatically and with
appropriate expression.
Word Work: Choose two of the activities below to practice your words this week.
* Sight Words Hide and Seek Write the sight words on an index card, post-it or piece
of
paper. You will hide the words around a room using tape. Then let your child find the
words
and call out the words as he/she finds them.
* Type the sight words on a computer.
* Build your sight words out of Lego.
* Colorful vowels- print your words neatly using black for the consonants and colors
for the
vowels.

Math: Complete the Math worksheet. Use the paper clip that is attached to worksheet
as a spinner.
Reminders: ***Dates for skating***
**Skating-During the month of February, we will be going skating each
Wednesday. We
leave NMES at 8:30 and return approximately 10:30. Our ice time is from 910. Dates are:
Wednesday, February 4
Wednesday, February 11
Wednesday, February 18
Wednesday, February 25
Skates and helmets are a must (your child will not be allowed on the ice
surface without a
helmet) and the cost is $8.00 in total (this can be forwarded to your childs
teacher asap).

**Valentines Day is soon approaching and I will be sending a class list home. Your
child
does not have to bring in Valentine cards if he/she does not wish to do so. If he/she
is
going to bring Valentines Day cards, make sure there is one for every student in the
class.
We will be handing out our Valentines Day cards on Thursday February 12th.
