1. Explain the meaning of the U.N. emblem. The middle is the countries of concern and the
olive branches symbolize peace.
2. How many countries are members of the U.N. today? There are 193 countries in the
United Nations Today
3. How might you describe the U.N. General Assembly? What happens when it convenes? They
talk about admission of new members, peace, security and budgetary matter. What
it convenes they just talk about it more.
4. Does the General Assemblys vote matter? Why or why not? Yes because its all of the
members states votes.

6. What are the main goals of the U.N.? The main goals of the U.N are to maintain
international peace and security

get along with each other, and not every nation has the same beliefs.
8. What was the League of Nations, and how does it relate to the U.N.? It was a worldwide
organization used to solve global disputes. Eventually, the League of Nations failed
and the U.N took over.

two. First off, its globalization because it forces other nations to work together to
settle disputes and other international problems. Also it was a main reason why
the U.N was created which is a huge international organization today used to
create solutions to worldwide issues.
10.Why did the League of Nations fail? Identify at least two reasons. The onset of the Second
World War demonstrated that the League had failed in its primary purpose, which
was to avoid any future world war. Also, in the 1930s countries like Germany, Italy and Japan
attacked weaker countries. They were too strong for the League to stop them.

position used to counterbalance the strength of some U.N. members? The U.N leader is
called the Secretary General. The current Secretary General is Ban Ki-Moon.

1. What do you feel is the future of the U.N.? Does it have a place in todays world? Why or why
not? What can it do to improve its position? Write a 5-6 sentence paragraph explaining
your views. I think the question can be answered both ways (yes and no). I think yes
because the U.N helps maintain organization throughout the world. However, with
more rebellious terrorist groups (ISIS, Al-Qaida etc.) on the rise, the U.N is failing
to maintain international peace and security. To improve the position, I think the
U.N needs to start giving harsh punishments to nations that rebel or break the
rules. Honestly, I think the U.N is eventually going to die out and go away. Why do I
think this? Because certain groups think that they dont have to follow the rules or
listen to the U.N. So personally, I think every country is going to become like that
(Rebellious) towards the U.N and the whole purpose for it will be tarnished.
