Sub: Shutdown of 50 MVA Power Transformer.
Sir,
50 MVA auto transformer having OLTC has been installed in 132 KV
Tanakpur Mahendranagar line. To check the healthiness of the above said
transformers oil, their oil samples were sent to M/s NTPC for testing. The test result
has been received on 26/02/2015 by email (copy enclosed). On going through test
results, it has been observed that OLTC results shows high concentration of
hydrocarbons and recommended to inspect at the earliest.
We were planning to repeat DGA test of OLTC oil sample from PGCIL, Bhiwadi to
cross check the results. In this regard, shutdown of 132 KV Tanakpur Mahendranagar
line was taken on 27/02/2015 for taking new oil sample. BDV of the oil sample was
also taken and found it as 17.9 KV, which is very low.
In view of above, management has decided to get the OLTC inspected before
charging the transformer.
