5th grade procedures

Restroom break

Go only when your teacher is not teaching


You do not have to ask in Mrs. Haugens room, but you do in Ms.
Brams and Mrs. Micks
Take the bathroom pass- only one student at a time
Return the pass to the board
Return to work

Missing Materials

You should have all materials that you need before coming to class
If an emergency occurs and you dont have something, you may
borrow from a classmate. Trips back to your locker loses you a DoJo

When the phone rings

Continue working silently


Only your teacher will answer the phone
If your teacher is not in the room, the answering machine will pick it up

Sharpening your pencils

Sharpen pencils before class


If a pencil breaks during class, exchange it with a pre-sharpened one

Labeling your papers

Put your student number in the upper right hand corner


Put both your first and last name

Keeping binders

All work should be kept in your binder


File your work as soon as you receive/finish it
Make sure that items are in neatly with no papers sticking out

When you are absent

Find out from each teacher what your make-up work it


Write assignments in planners
Complete the assignments in the same number of days you were gone

Walking the hallways

Walk in a straight line


Code 0
Stay to the right side
Keep hands and feet away from the wall
This is not a time for drinks
Face forward

When someone knocks on the door

Continue working quietly


Only your teacher will answer the door

When you finish early

Finish any incomplete work


Work on homework

Throwing away your trash

You may throw away your trash at the beginning and end of class only

When an announcement comes over the intercom

Immediately stop what you are doing or saying


Listen carefully
Save questions until the end of announcement

Entering the classroom

Enter the classroom by walking in a code 0


Locate your seat and prepare your materials

Write your assignments in your planner

Turing in your papers

Make sure your heading is on your paper


If there are more than one page, staple papers
Do not place assignments on teachers desk

Lining up

Stand up quietly
Push in chairs
Line up without touching others
Face forward

Visitors in the classroom

When a visitor enters the classroom, keep working

Organizing your work area

You are not the only one who works at the desk where you sit
Please make sure not to leave your work in the desk when you leave

What to do if a teacher is not in the room

Sit in your seat and whisper, silent read, or work on assignments until
the teacher returns

Study hall

Check planners before coming to study hall


Bring all homework and a free reading book
When homework is complete, read

Locker expectations

Graded work needs to go home each day


Gym clothes belong in your gym locker
Lunch goes home daily
Remove any trash, daily
All belongings must fit in your locker in an organized fashion
Shut lockers silently

Waiting to switch classes

Stand silently in the hall waiting to be let into the next classroom
