Parent Board

NAEYC Standard 2.c: Building Family and Community Relationships: Involving families and
communities in young childrens development and learning.
ECE Outcome 2: Cultivate relationships with children, family, and the community.

The Parent Board was created for my Practicum 4 class at my workplace at Grandmas House
Day Care Center. I designed the Parent Board for the parents to have a board to look at for
important information about what the class is doing. I added pictures of the edible school bus the
children made for Art/Cooking. I wrote down the instructions on how to make the school bus so
the parents could do this project at home.

I learned that the children are very excited when it comes to projects that involve food and
creative art. Making fun edible school bus at school was fun but taking the recipe home so the
family could make this project at home with their children is what this project is all about. I have
had parents come up to me and tell me that they have tried making the school bus at home and
we are working on other food projects as a family.
