Screen shot of black actors that have been nominated for an Oscar
and those who have won over the years.
Since 1958 to 2013 only 4 black actors have won an Oscar.
More black actors have won Oscars for a supporting role than a lead
role.
I asked some student about their opinion on the Oscars through a
survey on SurveyMonkey.com
These are the results.

Potential areas of interest: Andrea is a Film Studies teacher, so she

knows everything there is to know about film. This is why I chose
her to my interviewee as she will know what shes talking about and
I will also be interested in what Andrea has to say.

Areas of concern: The areas of concern would be if Andrea didnt

research or prepare for the questions I wanted to ask her

Over the past few months a lot of talk about the lack of ethnic actors winning an
Oscar has hit the headlines.
Since 1958 17 black actors have been nominated for best actor but only four
have won.
In that same time only 9 black actresses have been nominated for with only
Halle Berry winning.
Im joined today by Film lecturer and Film enthusiast Andrea Walter to discuss
the ethnic issues facing Hollywood at the moment
So, Andrea I understand youve been a film studies teacher for over 10 years
now. You must have a huge knowledge of the film industry.
So as a lover of film did you get a chance to watch the Oscars?
What did you think of the winners and were there any shock wins for you?
Recent press have stated that OSCARS academy is an all-white
Do you think this is fair to say?
Do you think that more black actors and actresses should have greater
involvement in the OSCAR nominations or should it still be based on the talent of
the actors and actresses regardless of race.

Al Sharptons response to the Oscars all white nominees was that The movie
industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher it gets the whiter it gets
What is your take on his response?
Can you think of any roles/ Actors who should have won an award but didnt
because of their race?
Moving away from the ethnic controversy. It seems that more English actors are
being nominated and winning than ever before. Why do think we are winning
these awards now?
British films are starting to move away from the kitchen sink genre and more
towards the typical Hollywood style of film making do you think that this is why
our actors are winning more?
As a film teacher do you enjoy teaching British or American films more?

Andrea is a suitable person to ask because she is a film studies teacher for 16
years, studied sociology as a degree and she is knowledgeable on the Oscars.

Research of Guest
Key Facts:
- Estate photography is the act of talking and developing
photographs of houses for estate agent companies; this usually
includes interior and exterior photography of every type of building
in the industry.
- Estate agent photography is a professional method of taking the
photographs of houses; these photographs will be used by
companies on websites and flyers or for advertising purposes.
- The property industry uses this service to provide them with a
professional service. Often the property companies will produce
photographs of every room in the house including the exterior
shots; they will then be required to edit and enhance each
photograph to create the desired perspectives of the property by
the company or property owner.
- In the industry, higher demand for estate requires a higher
demand for photography. Because of this, property companies have
been using photography companies and film photography
companies to produce the images of their properties.
Potential areas of interest:
The areas of interest are the opportunities that developing methods
are providing for film/photography persons to consider taking on the
job as a career. This is because the market is expanding and varied
techniques for creating the companies desired images are
developing. This means that the production will be significant and
vary varied for different peoples intentions.
Areas of concern:
Competition is a key concern for this business, to remain in business
companies are constantly competing with each other; this might
place pressure on workers. Another key point is editing skills, editing
is another important part of the process of this job, and professional
standards are expected from property companies and property
owners.

Key Facts: Films of 2014 and what to look forward too
The theory of everything and the Imitation game, BioPics
The theory of everything is based on the non-fictional book
Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen
First impressions suggest that people feel this film is incredible and
no one has a bad word to say about it. For example Rotten tomato
gave it a 79% with an average rating of 7.3 out of ten. Its audiences
giving it higher with 85% with an average rating of 4/5.

As you delve deeper though you start to find a lot more opinions.
That are more critical about the film. Some people feel that the films
is just a cheap way to win awards and that the story wasnt shown
to the best of its ability because of this.
Stephen Hawking deemed The Theory of Everything, a movie about
his life with his ex-wife, broadly true. Hes right: The film version
of his and Jane Hawkings story doesnt stray too far from the source
material, Janes Travelling to Infinity. http://www.ew.com/article/2014/11/14/theory-of-everything-factcheck
