Summary
Photogrammetry of archaeological sites and exhibits in simple words
Petros Patias
Mapping or 3D modelling of a cultural monument is the systematic recording and visualisation
of the elements that determine in a reliable way
the geometric shape and its position at a speciic
point in time. The best method for recording and
documenting a cultural monument will be deined
by the interdisciplinary collaboration. However,
between all the recording techniques (empirical-

architectural, topographic etc.) the Photogrammetric technique guaranties not only high geometric
accuracy, but also rich thematic information.
In this framework, this article presents in a
simple way the advantages, the products and the
practices- applications of Photogrammetry that
permit the best measurement documentation of
the archaeological remains.
