Will Smith shines in The Pursuit of Happiness, a thought-provoking film about love, family,
poverty and serious challenges. Written by Steven Conrad, and directed by Gabriele
Muccino, this drama film recounts how Chris Gardner (portrayed by Will Smith), dogged by
misfortune, in care of his 5-year-old son, Christopher (Jaden Christopher Syre Smith, Will

Smiths own real-life son), loses his apartment and almost all his belongings.
The film centers on Chris Gardner who makes hard, constant effort to achieve his dreams
to have a permanent, decent job and make ends meet. When Gardner starts a trial period
at a prestigious stock brokerage firm, which is unpaid, he and his son face difficult
challenges, including living in shelters or in a subway bathroom, in pursuit of Chris dream
of a better life for the two of them.
The Pursuit of Happines, as it is a real story, covers many of the problems working people
come across in society today, something made possible by the fact that it is not just a film
about a man trying to make ends meet but also about the problem of homelessness in our
society every day. This is all done in a realistic way with which most working people can
identify. Will Smith is brilliant in her role, and convincing in the emotions he portrays
throughout. The aim of the movie is to make us believe that anyone can break

through to the big money if we only grab every opportunity when it comes
and do our best.
On the whole, I would recommend it, in view of the fact that this film has deeply influenced
me on the constant effort that I have to make in order to achieve all my goals, no matter
how hard it could be or what difficult time I have to go through, if you work hard, you will
get results. So, If you are not successful in achieving your potential, you should definitely
see this film.
