- For me, despite these obstacles, Gardner demonstrates remarkable
resilience and determination in overcoming each hindrance that comes his
way. Chris Gardner exhibits remarkable resilience, determination, and
resourcefulness, each of which contributes to his ability to overcome
these obstacles. Firstly, financial instability poses a significant
hindrance to Gardner's pursuit of happiness. As a struggling salesman, he
faces eviction, unpaid bills, and the harsh reality of homelessness.
However, instead of succumbing to despair, Gardner leverages his
resourcefulness and takes on an unpaid internship at a stock brokerage
firm. This decision demonstrates his willingness to do whatever it takes
to improve his situation, even if it means sacrificing short-term comfort
and financial stability. Despite his lack of formal education and
experience, Gardner aspires to become a stockbroker. However, he is
constantly faced with rejection and a lack of favorable qualifications.
Nevertheless, Gardner refuses to let these setbacks deter him. He takes it
upon himself to educate himself in the field, utilizing books and
resources available to him. This determination to continually improve his
knowledge and skills demonstrates his unwavering belief in his abilities
and his refusal to let external circumstances define his potential.

challenges to his pursuit of happiness. Balancing the demands of
parenthood with his professional aspirations proves to be a tremendous
obstacle. However, Gardner approaches this hindrance with unwavering
commitment and dedication. He prioritizes his son's well-being, ensuring

unexpected power that saves a seemingly hopeless situation. In the movie, was achieving success a
result of dues ex machina, or did the movie show the protagonist win because of perseverance?
Explain.
- For me, the movie “the pursuit of happyness” it becomes evident that the
protagonist's triumphs were not merely the product of deus ex machina.
While there were moments of unexpected assistance, such as the CEO's
unexpected act of generosity, the core theme of the movie revolves around
the protagonist's indomitable perseverance. Chris Gardner's success is
primarily attributed to his unyielding determination and resilience in the
face of overwhelming challenges.
Throughout the movie, Chris faces numerous obstacles that threaten to
derail his pursuit of happiness. He endures financial instability,
homelessness, and the burden of single parenthood. However, he never
succumbs to despair. Instead, he channels his energies into securing a job

The movie emphasizes the importance of Chris's relentless efforts and

refusal to give up. He takes on an unpaid internship, working tirelessly
to prove himself in a competitive environment. Despite setbacks and
disappointments, he remains focused on his goals. Chris constantly pushes
himself beyond his limits, demonstrating his perseverance as the driving
force behind his eventual success.
