ABSTRACT
Through this practice consider evidence the principles of chemical
equilibrium using Le Chatelier. We develop techniques to give directions to
reversible reactions, which modify its pH and / or concentrations of
reactants and products. The practice done was qualitative. Knowing that
the pH is a measure of acidity or alkalinity of a solution. This indicates the
concentration of hydronium ion [H3O]+ present in certain solutions.
The effect of two substances, first an acidic and then a basic salt, the water
balance of this process is known as the water autodissociation studied. A
substance that is added to water often make the concentration of H3O+
increase or decrease. Aqueous solution having a large amount of H 3O+ ions
are known as acid, and have many OH- ions is termed basic.
Acid salt and basic salt, are so named because they produce water
hydrolysis, which is that water molecules are broken into ions to react with
the added salt,
In the case of an acid salt, the water reacts with the cation of the salt and
breaks to give hydronium ions, which increases their concentration in the
solution, and an acid pH is obtained.
In the case of a basic salt, the water reacts with the anion of the salt and
breaks to give hydroxyl ions, thereby increasing the concentration of them
in the solution, and a basic pH is obtained.
Water balance was not affected by the addition of bismuth nitrate, but if
affected by adding nitric acid.
