16th March 2010

Dear Parents and Caregivers

To end our school swimming programme for this term, all students will
participate in the school swimming sports at Moana Pool. This will take
place this Friday 19th March.

The school swimming sports is split into two categories; competitive and
non-competitive. Most students will compete in the competitive races, but
there is a non-competitive option for those students who lack confidence
in the water and are not confident swimmers. The non-competitive
swimming session will be finished in time for all students to watch the
finals and house relays.

The swimming sports will begin at 9.00am sharp, therefore all students
need to make their own arrangements to meet at the pool by 8.45am.
They need to be lined up in their classes and their teacher will check the
roll. The swimming sports should be finished by approx 12.15pm and all
classes will walk back to school with their classroom teachers for lunch
and afternoon class sessions.

All students will be allowed to wear their CORRECT PE gear (navy shorts,
Balmac PE top, sports shoes and socks) to the pool and school for the day.
They will not need to bring their uniforms. However if your student does
not have their correct PE gear, or is not swimming for some reason they
need to wear their correct school uniform.

It is recommended that all students have an extra big packed lunch on

Friday. They will not have access to the canteen at school and they will
not be able to use the vending machines at the pool.

Class teachers must have a written note at least a day in advance for
anyone that isn’t swimming, because they will remain at school for the
day. It is also important because class teachers will be taking a roll at the
pool on Friday morning.

Please remind your son/daughter that it may be a good idea to bring an

extra towel or t.shirt to put on between races.

Please don’t hesitate to ring or write a note to your child’s teacher or

myself if you have any concerns or questions.

Kind regards

Lauren Roney and Heidi Cleland
