DIRECTIONS: You will observe many children performing many different kinds of skills. Select 8 (or as many
as you can) different tasks and describe how the high skilled students and the low skilled students are
performing.

Task
1. Students practicing
the motion of basketball
shooting without a ball

Higher Skilled

Lower Skilled

Feet shoulder width apart. One


hand to the side of the ball and one
hand at the back of the ball. Ball
above the head.

Feet were close together, or they


werent in line with each other. No
follow through. Hands on either
side of the ball. Ball to the side of
the head or right in front of the
face.
Flat shot, not in a loop motion.
Feet not aligned. Knees not bent.

Students practicing
shooting with a
basketball but no hoop

Knees bent. Ball above the head


with the elbow in the right place.
Using more power from one arm
than the other.

3. Students shooting a
basketball at a hoop

Ball would be close to the rim of


the hoop or near it. Ball above
head.

Ball wouldnt go in an arch motion


flat throw. No bent knees. Ball
thrown from the side of the body.
Ball not above the head when shot.
