TY STUDENTS SHINE AT THE ANNUAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

nd

On Thursday 22 October, 43 fantastic and unique performances took to the

stage in the Junior School hall. This is the most acts that have ever taken part in
the music festival and shows just how much talent there is now in the school.
The first category was for the Instrumental performances. There was everything
from pianos, guitars, violins and saxophones! Sani MacNally and Nicholaas Walle
blew us away with their talent on the piano and guitar.
In the senior vocalist category, Sabine OConnell and Georgia Ferguson sang their
hearts out singing Please Don't Go by Stephaine Rain and Stay with Me by Sam
Smith respectively. Well done girls!

Rory and Nicholaas

In the groups section Georgia Ferguson and Mia McCarthy sang Payphone by
Maroon 5. They were awarded a second place prize for their phenomenal
performance. Nicholaas and Rory Thomas combined their musical talents and
created a guitar duet to remember.
Many thanks to Ms. Nicola Byrne, Mr. Ken Doyle and Ms. Haley OSullivan who
acted as the judges for the evening. It was a very enjoyable evening and well
done to all who participated.

YSI UPDATE
Ms Kavanagh's YSI group met with Joan Dobbyn from the Dun Laoighaire
Refugee Project on Tuesday. She told them about what she does and what she
knows about refugees in Ireland. We learnt that some refugees live on as little as
19.10 a week! The group explained their project ideas to her. One of the ideas
is collecting items for bags to give to refugees at her centre, and she agreed to it
which was fantastic. The YSI group have been granted permission to host an
awareness day on the 19th of November. We can't wait for it!
