TY Musical Update!
'Grease' is the word in TY! We are constantly doing rehearsals. This week, we learnt
new dances for the second act, like 'Born to Hand Jive'. Some dances are pretty
tough, but they're all great fun! The principles have been practicing their singing and
acting non-stop. The different form classes have also rehearsed the background
singing for some songs. Everyone has had their measurements taken for costumes.
We can't wait to nail everything down and perform on the stage!

Bio Diversity Workshop

th

On Thursday 14 of January most of the TYs took part in a bio-diversity workshop.

The speakers were very engaging and everyone agreed that they made the workshop
really fun using different games to explain the word Bio-Diversity and to help us
imagine what the environment was like before we were born and how it will turn out
for the next generation. We also learnt what Bio-Mimicking is and how to keep
sustainability in our world. Everyone really enjoyed it, it was an interesting workshop.

Senior Drama group

This year, three TYs are in Ms. Carneys Senior Drama group, Anna Byrne, Mia
McCarthy and Georgia Ferguson. Along with some 5th years and some 2nd years
they have been working very hard on their play Hospital Food by Eugene
OHare. This is a heart-breaking, thought-provoking yet refreshing piece. They
will be performing Hospital Food in The Mermaid Theater, competing in The
Bray One Act Festival on 26th of January. They would love to see any support
there!

This weekend, some St. Gerards pupils and alumni held the annual St Gerards
Junior Mace Debate. There was many schools debating and we also had some St.
Gerards teams competing. It was a fantastic day with some great debating and
lots of good food! Well done to the team from Loreto on the Green who won the
entire debate in a grand final. A huge thank you from everyone to Ms. Alex
Kavanagh who made sure the competition ran smoothly.
