BT Young Scientist Exhibition

On Thursday 8th of January, all the TYs were lucky enough to take a trip to
The BT Young Scientist Exhibition held in The RDS. Joshua Dargan Hayes and
Evelyn Clinton were both competing in the exhibition so it was great for the
rest of TY to support them and learn about their wonderful, unique
projects. Joshua won a Special Merit Award for his project about the
development of a smart portable, solar powered, USB charging, shading
device. Evelyns project was about understanding the form of data input
people gravitate towards and why, and the implications this has on future
technological evolutions. Both were amazing, creative projects which we
found very interesting and inspiring. Congratulations to both of them for
exhibiting two projects of such high standards.

4th, 5th and 6th year trip to Munich.

Just before Christmas, between the 12th and 14th of December, TY
History students, along with 5th and 6th years, got the chance to go to
Munich, Germany. Over the course of the three days, they visited
famous landmarks throughout the city such as Probylaea, The
Glockenspiel church and the Hofbrauhaus Hall. They also enjoyed a visit
to Nuremberg, where they got to look around the Nazi Party Rally
Grounds and the court where the Nuremberg Trials were held. The
highlight of the trip for many people, however, was the third Reich tour
on the last day, which showcased the former Gestapo Headquarters and
the site of the party rallies. Huge thanks to the teachers who made the
trip possible and so enjoyable for everyone; Ms. Fanning, Ms. Molloy,
Mr. OConnor, Ms. Carrigy and, of course, Mr. Roche.
