A talk on drugs.

Fixtures Hockey Junior Bs had training

Senior 2s had training.

On Wednesday of last week, a Garda Garry Dunne from the Dun

Laoghaire Drugs Force gave a talk to the TY students. He spoke
about the various drugs in circulation, the dangers of such drugs,
and what they do to combat this problem. Students got to hear
about the equipment utilised by Garda, some of the cases that
they have come across and got an opportunity to ask questions. It
was certainly a valuable talk for all!

A YSI meeting with Derek West

On Wednesday, four representatives of Ms. Kavanaghs YSI group met with
the editor of the Association of National Principal and Deputy Principal
publication Leader, Derek West. Leader is a magazine which is published
four times a year and distributed to secondary school Principals in Ireland
and abroad. Due to the immense amount of work that has been completed
in our social media platforms, we were recommended by YSI to take part in
this magazine edition about the Syrian Refugee Crisis. We were asked to
complete a four page spread on our project Reaching beyond the Borders
which is going to feature in the magazines May edition.

YSI Update
The Reaching Beyond the Borders YSI group went this week to the Junior
school to present their project on the refugee crisis to standard 5 and 6 class.
The Time for Tech YSI group have recently been taking all the research and information they
have gathered and have begun to design an educational website. The group has been in
contact with many groups over the course of the project, including Adam Harris, Simon Harris
and also New Park School in Bray. A small group went to visit New Park School to find out
what resources they have and also what they are in need of. They received a folder full of
ideas to place on the website. Over the past week the IT committee has begun to create and
format the website. Additionally, they have made enquiries with all year groups to find out
what issues some members of the school community might have.
