Rules & Regulations for the Various Sports Events
The organization of sports competitions has undergone appropriate modifications over the years
in order to conduct the events smoothly adhering to the rules and regulations, which govern
them. The success of Inter Institutional sports competitions will depend upon the quality of
organization, management and its conduct.
The important Rules & regulations for the various Sports Events are given as under:

Note:
1. Organizing Committee will have the right to include more sports/events or to delete
any of the existing events from the schedule of SANGATHAN and recommendation
of HOIs.
2. All the matches in various sports listed for the SANGATHAN events shall be
completed in accordance of the Rules of the National Federation/Association of the
game which shall be binding in case of any protest.
(a) Medals, Certificates & Trophy
(i)

Medals, Certificates & Trophy will be awarded to all the Winners and
Runners in all the events (both boys and girls).
Medals, Certificates and Trophy will be awarded to the team securing 3 rd
position in the only events (both boys and girls) in which minimum 10
teams participated.

PARTICIPATION
All the Amity institutions of higher education are eligible to participate in these competitions
either as individual institution or combined group of institutions, as decided by the organizing
committee from time to time.
ELIGIBILITY
All the bonafide students of AMITY Institutions are eligible to participate in the Amity
Inter Institutional Sports Meet SANGATHAN 2015..

ENTRIES
A minimum of Six teams are necessary for holding any game /sport competition.
(1) Every Amity Institution either as Individual or group of institution will be considered as
one unit for participation in the SANGATHAN events. Thus each institution or the group
will be entitled to enter one team in all the team events and will be allowed one entry in
each individual event(s) in competitions like Athletics, Swimming & SHOOTING
(2) Institutions will upload their final team list on Amizone.
NOTE
Institutions will ensure that they send their entries only in those games and sports where they
have reasonably good teams/individual(s) as the case may be.
WITHDRAWAL
After sending the entry for participation in any of the SANGATHAN events, any such institute
willing to withdraw from the tournament/matches will be permitted to do so but it will be the
responsibility of such withdrawing institutional team to inform the opponent team as listed in the
draw and also the host institution and the Organising Committee (Control Room, Phone
No.4392878/4392879/4392887) in advance so as to avoid inconveniences.
TECHNICAL CONDUCT
All the matches/competitions will be held as per the rules of the game laid down by the
respective National Federations of the game unless the modifications are made by the organizing
committee therein. Decision of the technical officials (referee, umpire & judges etc.) will be final
and no protest or complaint against their decision(s) will be entertained against their decision(s).
PARTICIPATING INSTITUTION
Each participating team/individual will carry the following documents / playing kit while going
to participate in SANGATHAN events:a. Identity Card of the Players.
b. List of players with bonafide studentship certificate from head of the institution
concerned. In combined or grouped institutions one of the designated HOI/H.O.D/
Sr. Faculty will sign the list of student giving their names, class of study/course
for submission to the Organizing Institute.
c. Playing uniform of the games.
d. Personal playing kit like Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash racquet etc.
ACCOMPANYING OFFICIAL
Each team will be accompanied by a Faculty Coordinator of participating institution who will be
fully responsible for submitting the required document(s) to the Organizing Institute and
subsequently for the discipline and conduct of his/her team/individual during the
matches/competitions.
Playing Team/Individual must report to the venue half an hour before the scheduled time of
their match/event.

CONDUCT RULES -GAMES/EVENTS


Every institute which is assigned the responsibility of conducting a particular tournament will
liaison with the technical coordinator (from ASPESS) for that game and ensure that the
tournament /matches being organized under their institute are conducted smoothly and as per
rules of the game and other regulations laid down by the organizing committee of
SANGATHAN.

(MEN)

Boys team will consist of 16 players (11 playing at a time), a coach & a manager.
Teams must be in white kit.
Matches will be played as per I.C.C.- T20 Rules unless whenever modified.
(i) Boys - 20 overs matches with one drink (5 min) after 10 overs. Each bowler will be
allowed 4 overs maximum.
5. .Matches will be played with Leather Ball.
6. Result
a. In case of tie results will be declared by Super Over (1 Over match)
b. In case of rain and any unavoidable circumstances, results will be declared as
either of the condition :Condition 1- If power play have been completed then result will be declared by
no.of more runs in the power play.
Condition -2. If Power Play doesnt complete and there is no further chance of
further play, the result will be declared by Toss on the day of the match

CRICKET (WOMEN)
Girls team will consist of 10 players out of which only 8 to play.
Girls must be in proper sports kit.
Matches will be played as per I.C.C.- T20 Rules unless whenever modified.
Girls -10 overs match with one drink break(7-10min) after 6 overs. Each bowler will be
allowed 3 overs maximum.
Matches will be played with Tennis Ball for Girls

6. .Result
a.In case of tie results will be declared by Super Over (1 Over match)
b.In case of rain and any unavoidable circumstances, results will be declared as
either of the condition:Condition 1- If power play has been completed then result will be declared by
no.of more runs in the power play.
Condition -2. If Power Play doesnt complete and there is no further chance of
further play, the result will be declared by Toss on the day of the match.

BASKETBALL (MEN & WOMEN)


1. Team will consist of 12 players, a coach & a manager.

2. Duration 4 Quarters of 10 minutes each with 2 minutes break in between 1 st & 2nd and
between 3rd and 4th quarter. Ten minutes break after 2nd quarter will be given i.e. halftime.
3. Matches will be played according to B.F.I. Rules.
4. Team must be in proper kit with Nos. (04 to 15) printed in front & back of the T-shirt.
III.

VOLLEYBALL (MEN & WOMEN)


1. Team will consist of 12 players, a coach & a manager.
2. Set will be of 25 points each and winners will be decided on Best of Three games.
a. A set (except the deciding set) is won by the team which first scores 25 points
with a minimum lead of two points. In the case of a 24-24 tie, play is continued
until a two-point lead is achieved (26-24; 27-25; ).
3. Matches will be played in rotation as per the VFI rules.
4. Matches will be played as per V.F.I. Rules unless modified in these rules.
5. Chest Nos. 1-12 must be printed in front and back of the T-shirt.

IV.

FOOTBALL (MEN)

Matches will be played according to FIFA rules unless modified in these rules.
Three substitutes in a complete match will be permitted.
Duration of game 35 minutes, each half with 5-10 minutes break.
No extra time.

BADMINTON (MEN & WOMEN)

Team Championship
1. Team consist of minimum 2 and maximum 4 players
2. The team event matches will consist of two singles and one doubles. The team winning
two matches will be declared as the winner.
3. The boys match will be played for 21 point and girls for 15 points (Best of three).

2. Team championship will consist of 3 matches (3 singles). ABC v/s XYZ
3. All matches will be played as best of three games of 11 points each as per T.T.F.I. rules.

Matches will be played best of 13 games, 7 games to win, at 6-all tiebreaker for men.
Matches will be played best of 9 games, 5 games to win, at 4-all tiebreaker for women.
The team event matches will consist of two singles and one doubles. Team winning two
matches will be declared as winner. Finals will be of best of three sets (6 games a set), at
6-all tiebreaker for men. In womens final it will be of one set (6 games to win).
5. All matches will be played as per rules of the federation as applicable from time to time
will be applied unless modified in these rules.

VII.

HOCKEY (MEN & WOMEN)

Participants in hockey from all the institutions must be aware of the following Rules and further
they are also expected to perform accordingly. Emphasis is placed on safety; everyone involved
in the game must act with consideration for the safety of others. Umpires exercise an important
role controlling the game and ensuring fair play, umpires decision will be considered final in case
any decision making issue(s) on the hockey field.
MEN
1. Field of Play
Field of play will be modified on the basis of availability of the playing area.
2. Composition of Teams & Conduct of Play
i.
A maximum of eleven players from each team take part in play at any particular
time during the match. If a team has more than the permitted number of
players on the field, time should be stopped to correct the situation. A
personal penalty may be awarded against the captain of the team involved, if
inadvertently having too many players on the pitch occurs for a very short period
of time and does not materially affect the match. In cases where this occurs and
materially affects the match, a personal penalty must be awarded against the
captain of the team involved. Decisions taken prior to correcting the situation
cannot be changed. Play and time is restarted with a free hit to the opposing team
unless another penalty had been awarded against the offending team immediately
before time was stopped in which case that penalty is taken.
ii.
Each team has either a goalkeeper or player with goalkeeping privileges on the
field or plays only with field players.
iii.
A team consists of sixteen players.
iv. Each team is permitted to substitute from its players not on the field of play.
v. a substitution is permitted at any time except within the period from the award of
a penalty corner until after it has been completed ; during this period substitution
is only permitted for injury to or suspension of the defending goalkeeper or
defending player with goalkeeping privileges If another penalty corner is awarded
before completion of the previous penalty corner, substitution other than for an
injured or suspended defending goalkeeper or defending player with goalkeeping

privileges must not take place until that subsequent penalty corner has been
completed. At a penalty corner, a defending goalkeeper (ie wearing full protective
equipment) who is injured or suspended may be substituted by another goalkeeper
wearing full protective equipment or by a player with goalkeeping privileges. 15
At a penalty corner, a defending player with goalkeeping privileges who is injured
or suspended may be substituted by another player with goalkeeping privileges
and not by a goalkeeper wearing full protective equipment. If a team has only
field players, no substitution is permitted at a penalty corner until it has been
completed.
If the goalkeeper or player with goalkeeping privileges is suspended, the
offending team plays with one fewer players.
vi.
One player of each team must be appointed as a captain.
vii.
Players must not lift their hockey stick over the heads of other players.
viii.
Players are expected to act responsibly at all times.
3. Players Clothing and Equipments
i.
Field player of the same team must wear uniform clothing.
ii.
Players must not wear anything which is dangerous to the other players.
iii.
Each player must wear shin guard and stockings during the play.
iv. Field players :
are permitted to wear gloves for protection which do not increase the natural
size of the hands significantly;
are recommended to wear shin, ankle and mouth protection;
are permitted to wear throughout a match for medical reasons only a smooth
preferably transparent or white but otherwise single colored face mask which
closely fits the face, soft protective head-covering or eye protection in the form of
plastic goggles (ie goggles with a soft-covered frame and plastic lenses) ;
the medical reasons must be assessed by an appropriate authority and the player
concerned must understand the possible implications of playing with the medical
condition ;
are permitted to wear a smooth preferably transparent or white but otherwise
single colored face mask or metal grill face mask, which follows the contours of
the face, when defending a penalty corner or penalty stroke for the duration of
that penalty corner or penalty stroke and when they are inside the circle they are
defending ; the primary objective of wearing a face mask to defend a penalty
corner is safety; wearing of face masks which are consistent with the underlying
spirit of this guidance should be allowed;
are not permitted, when wearing face masks, to conduct themselves in a manner
which is dangerous to other players by taking advantage of the protective
equipment they wear ;
Other than players with goalkeeping privileges, are not permitted to wear
protective headgear (face mask or other protective head covering) in any other
circumstances.

4. Match & method of Scoring


i.
Match consists of two periods of 30 minutes and a half time interval of 5 minutes.
ii.
A goal is scored when:
A goal is scored when the ball is played within the circle by an attacker and does
not travel outside the circle before passing completely over the goal-line and
under the crossbar.

The ball may be played by a defender or touch their body before or after
being played in the circle by an attacker.
5. Umpiring & Penalties
i.
Two umpire controls the match, FIH rules applicable from January 2015 will be
applied.
ii.
For any offences the offending player may be :
a. Cautioned (indicated by spoken word)
b. Warned (indicated by green card and simultaneously temporary suspension
for 3 minute).
c. Temporarily suspended for a minimum of 5 minutes of playing time
(indicated by yellow card
).
d. Permanently suspended by the current match (indicated by red card

WOMEN
1. Field of Play
i Field of play will be modified on the basis of availability of the playing area and
suitable for Hockey 7s.
ii Modified goal post will be used.
2. Composition of Teams & Conduct of Play
I. A team consists of twelve players.
II. Seven players from each team will take part in play at any particular time during
the match.
III.Each team consists of six field players and one player play with goalkeeping
privileges.
IV. Rolling substitution is permitted at any time except during modified penalty
stroke.
V. One player of each team must be appointed as a captain.
VI. No penalty corner will be given; instead of this ball possession of ball outside the
shooting circle will be taken by the attacker.
VII.
No hit & scoop will be allowed during the play.
VIII.
Players must not lift their hockey stick over the heads of other players.
IX. Players are expected to act responsibly at all times.

SQUASH RACKET (MEN & WOMEN)


1. Match will be played in Best of three games of 11 points with new scoring system (all
singles).
2. Each team will consist of 3 players ranked A.B.C./or 1,2,3 & will play according to the
rankings.
3. Best of three will be declared the winner.
4. Matches will be played as per the rules of the Squash and Racket Federation of India.

X.

CHESS RULES (MEN & WOMEN)


1. Each team will consist of 4 players + 2 reserves.

2. Each Team will be ranked ABCD or 1234 and will play according to the ranking.
3. In case of Tie/Draw one player from each team will contest for a final result.
4. Duration 45 minutes normal time thereafter 15 minutes additional time with chess
watches.
5. In case of tie/ draw duration of game will be 10 min. 5 min. for each team.
6. It will be played according to the rules of Chess Federation of India.
XI.

CAROM BOARD (MEN & WOMEN)


1. Matches will be played according to Official Laws of Carom according to International
Carom Federation 1993.
2. Each institutional unit can project one team.
3. A team will consist of minimum 2 and maximum 4 players.
4. The team event matches will consist of 2 singles and 1 doubles. Team winning 2 matches
will be declared as winner.
5. Each match will be decided on best of three Boards basis.
6. The carom man of opponent can be touched directly.
7. If there is only one carom man and queen left on the board one can touch his/her last
carom man.
8. The carom man/s lying on arrows can be played.

XII.

TRACK & FIELD

1. Each institution will be entitled to send only one entry for each of the following events:
i. 100 m race
ii. 200 m race
iii. 400 m race
iv. 800 m race
v. 4X100 m Relay
vi. Shot Put
vii. Discuss Throw
viii. Long Jump
ix. High Jump
x. Javelin Throw
XIII. SWIMMING
1. Each institution will be entitled to send only one entry for each of the following events.

TUG OF WAR (Men & Women)

1. Each institution will be entitled to enter one team of 9 players in both sections.
2. Games will be organized as per rules of the Association.
XV.

KABADDI (Boys & Girls)

1. Every institution is entitled to enter one team.


2. A team will consist of 12 players (including 5 reserves) i.e 7 will take the field at one
time.
3. The duration of the match is 20 minutes for boys and 15 minutes for girls with an interval
of 5 minutes in between two halves.
4. Matches will be played according to the rules of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India.
XVI. SHOOTING
Shooting championship will consist the following 6 individual events (boys and girls) no
team event will be there.

PARTICIPATION
Participation is open to all belonging to different departments of Amity. Shooters
furnishing wrong information will be immediately disqualified.
ENTRY
Entry from each Department, one member for each match will be allowed total 6 entries
(3 girls and 3 boys combine).
ARMS/AMMUNITION
Arms and Ammunition will be provided on the range. Shooters are allow to use their
own individuals weapons. Shooting club will provide weapons only for the match.
IMPORTANT
1

Each department has to send entries latest by 15 days prior after that no entry will be
accepted. We will make their time schedule for their team.

There will be elimination round for each shooter out of which those who will shoot 80%
score will be qualify for final round

Every shooter will be given initially 10 round to shoot (100 points) out of which 80% is
required for qualifying.

Finalist will be given 20 shots (200 points) on 20 cards to complete the match. Highest
score will be given Gold, Silver and Bronze medal.

In case of Tie, that is same score, for more than one person then the shooters will shoot
again 20 shots (each)

Champion of Champion round for rifle and pistol separate the trophy of SANGATHAN
will be given to Champion of Champion combined girls and boys.

Champion of Champion round is the part of National and International championship we


are including this round in our shooting championship first time. This will be the mega
event of shooting championship Sangathan 2015.

Finalist will shoot in Sangathan with T shirt and Trouser of Amity University.

DISPUTES
In case participants make protest he/she must give the same in writing immediately
(within half an hour) to Chief Jury for taking decision.
XVII. KHO-KHO
1. Kho Kho is a game of two innings. Each team has to chase and defend for 9 minutes
twice in a match
2. The team consist of 15 players, initially 9 players start the game and 3 are kept reserve.
3. Scoring
a. The side of the chasers shall score one point, for each runner out.
b. In the knock out system, the side that scores more points at the end of match shall
be declared as the winner. If the points are equal, an additional inning shall be
played as follows. As soon as the first point is scored the turn shall be closed by
the referee. He shall stop the 'stop watch' with him simultaneously. The time to
put the first defenders shall thus be noted. The side that has taken less time to
score the first point (minimum chase) shall be declared as winner of the match.
The process shall follow till the winner is decided.
c. If the points of a side starting the match as chasers exceed the points of the other
side by 9 or more points after the first innings, the former side shall have the
option of requiring the latter side to follow on its turn as chasers, without
forfeiting their rights to take their innings as chasers afterwards in case the other
side exceeds their score.
4. SUBSTITUTION
a. The Referee on request of Coach, Captain or Manager shall allow any number of
substitutions.

i. For chasing side substitution can be made at any time during the match.
ii. For Runners, substitution is allowed only before they enter the Field.
5. Note:i.

ii.

During substitution, the substituting Attacker shall not enter the Field,
unless the outgoing Attacker comes out of the Field. While coming out, he
shall not pursue any Defender. If he does so. the Defender shall not be
given out.
The substituting Attacker shall not pursue the Defenders directly. He shall
give Kho first.

6. As soon as a Defender Is out. he shall return to the Sitting Block through the Lobby
exiting from the nearest End Line or Side Line only
7. The teams shall not leave the Field till the Referee declares the result of the match.

XVIII. HANDBALL
1. Each team shall consist of 12 players, however only 6 players and one goal keeper takes
the court.
2. Other players can be substituted during the game.
3. The boys match will be played for 40 minutes with a break of 5 minutes after the first
half (20 minutes)
4. Girls match will be played for 30 minutes and there will be a break of 3 minutes after the
first half (15minutes).
5. The team scoring more goals will be declared as the winner.
6. PENALTIES:a. Penalties for fouls are as follows:
b. First foul - A player is warned by the referee by displaying a yellow card.
c. Second foul - A 2 minute suspension will be enforced on the player. During that
time the team plays will one less player. Player may return only after serving the
suspension and enters through the substitution area of the court.
d. A team can have a maximum of 3 yellow cards. After that the remaining fouls are
punished with 2 minute suspensions. If a player receives three 2 minute
suspensions, the player is shown a red card by the referee and is disqualified from
the game and can not participate for the rest of the game. After the 2 minutes has
elapsed that player can be replaced by another player.

XIX. SOFTBALL
1. Each team shall consist of 15 players out of which 9 will be playing at a time.
2. There will be three innings play in the event.
3. In one inning, maximum 9 players will bat.
4. The game will be played according to the Softball Federation of India rules.
5. Official will brief the rules before start of the game.
XX. NETBALL
1. Each team shall consist of 12 players out of which 7 will be playing at a time.
2. The game will be of 60 minutes including 4 quarters of 15 minutes each
3. The game will be played according to the Netball Federation of India rules.
4. Official will brief the rules before start of the game.
