Appetizer #1: Diagram each simple machine.
Appetizer #2: Describe how to find the mechanical advantage of each
simple machine.
Appetizer # 3: Design a unique compound machine that includes a
lever, pulley, inclined plane, and wheel & axle. Label each simple
machine. Trace the transfer of energy from input to output.
Appetizer #4: Describe how ancient Egyptians used simple machines to
build the pyramids. Identify how the simple machines were used to
move and lift materials.

In detail, describe 5 simple and
compound machines common to our everyday
lives. Name the item and what type of
machine it is. How does it make our life
easier?
Dessert (Optional)
Look for examples of the use of simple machines by animals. Identify
the animal example, and type of simple machine, and present in a poster
or PowerPoint presentation.
