Why:
Due to inclement weather, BREC and the Main Street (Baker) Pilot Club are postponing the
dedication of the new playground for adults. This amenity was developed to reduce seniors
fall-related injuries by improving stability, balance and coordination and was made possible
through a generous donation from the Main Street (Baker) Pilot Club.
It is BRECs mission to contribute to a healthier, more vibrant community by providing exceptional parks,
open spaces and recreational experiences for all of East Baton Rouge Parish.

During my BREC internship, I had the opportunity to write numerous press releases. Occasionally,
however, I was asked to write a media advisory for a last minute news story. For the most part, and
in the case of this media advisory, it was for a cancelation of an event. This media advisory was sent
out to the media through email, while the general information of the cancelation was sent to the
public through social media.
