Summary and Artifact

Human beings impact the variation in other species. Examples of that are: artificial
selection, loss of genetic diversity with in a crop species, and overuse of antibiotics.
Artificial selection is the interbreeding of plants and animals. We breed certain animals
together in order for their offsprings to get the perfect traits. Some of the traits the
breeders will persevere. Evolution continues to occur in the modern day world. Scientific
evidence proves this. Examples of these scientific evidence are chemical resistance,
emergent diseases, observed directional phenotypic change in a population (Darwin's
Observations of finches) and eukaryotic examples which describe the structure of heart
chambers, limbs, the brain, and the immune system. Chemical resistance is where an
animal has mutations for resistance to antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides or
chemotherapy drugs.

Reflection
The most important thing I learned from this artifact is how an environment can become
a selective mechanism on populations. Organisms that cannot adapt to changes in
environment will fall to natural selection. They will die more easily than those who can
adapt to changes in their environment. I would like to study natural selection further; I
also struggle with natural selection. This is one of the many reasons I would like to
study it more. I would also like to study chemical resistance and emergent diseases
because they are interesting and I'm also struggling with those too.
