I am a creative and highly motivated professional with a passion for delivering targeted,
high quality communications.
For the past 18-months I have worked in a communication and engagement role at RMIT
Universitys Centre for Urban Research.
I also work with RMITs New Academic Street project team, providing communication,
stakeholder relations and event coordination support.
With a broad range of skills, I have experience in public engagement, issues
management, end-to-end event coordination and media and brand management.
With experience working in reputable and high pressure media organisations including
ABC radio, The Conversation and Fairfax Media (Ballarat Courier), I have also
contributed in a freelance capacity to publications such as the Australian Times UK,
Catalyst magazine and the Footy Almanac.
I am looking for a rewarding and challenging media and communication role, which also
provides opportunities to further develop my skills.

CAREER HISTORY
Centre for Urban Research, RMIT University, Melbourne
Through its work, the Centre for Urban Research is directly responding to the globally
important need to shape cities that are environmentally, socially and economically
sustainable.
Committed to inter-disciplinary research, the Centre hosts 82 members and 33 PhD
students with expertise in urban planning, geography, economics, environmental
sciences, history, and sociology.
Engagement and Communication Officer

July 2014 Current

In this role I researched, designed, implemented and lead the Centres engagement and
communication strategy.
The responsibilities for this role include: social media management; media management;
drafting and editing stories including features and news items for web publication;
drafting media releases; seminar and public lecture coordination; and drafting, designing

and distribution of internal and external communication material.


The role has allowed me to work with various local, state and federal government
departments; Australian and international universities; NGOs and not-for-profits.
Achievements include:

Researched and developed communication strategy with a focus on engagement


and partnerships.

Coordinated more than 40 research seminars in 2015, attracting over 600 attendees.

Coordinated Paul Mees Public Debate, which attracted more than 300 attendees
from industry, government, academia and interest groups.

Coordinated Whitlam / Hamer Legacy: Challenges for Australian Cities conference,


which attracted over 150 attendees and featured speakers including Lucy Turnbull,
Adam Bandt MP, Andrew Giles MP and Jane Prentice MP.

Increased Twitter account followers from 20 in 2014 to more than 900 in 2015.

Coordinated, edited and designed (InDesign) 2014 Annual Report.

Increased mail list subscribers by more than 60% in 2015 to more than 600.

New Academic Street construction project, RMIT University, Melbourne


The New Academic Street (NAS) is a major construction project at RMIT University.
Building works for the multi-million project started in mid-2015 and will deliver a major
refurbishment of four ageing and inefficient 1970s buildings, creating a new library,
student hall, new shops, a garden building, a media precinct and roof top terraces.
Communication Coordinator

February 2015 - Current

In this role I provide assistance to the NAS project team with a focus on the critical task
of providing clear and proactive stakeholder communication, which is delivered while
construction continues within the large, lively and presently operational confines of
RMITs City campus.
The responsibilities for this role include: coordination and communication support for
stakeholder consultation events and initiatives such as pre-construction briefing and
project presentations; coordination and communication support for student experience
events and initiatives; development and distribution of proactive high-quality internal
communication for the project team and key stakeholders including impacted staff and
students.
Achievements include:

Developed and designed templates for internal communication including Weekly


Bulletin, Monthly Staff Update.

Developed and implemented communication plan for Urban Animators public art
program, which allows RMIT staff, students and alumni to submit art concepts to be
displayed throughout the City campus on hoarding and large-scale projections
during construction.

Provided communication and event coordination support for five pre-construction


briefing sessions to which 200 staff attended. Each session included presentations
from key project stakeholders representing construction, OHS and communication.
