Music In You Reflection

Student Name:
Lonnie Barton
Date:
11/09/2015
Portfolio Artifact Description:
Music In you Create word document with rewritten lyrics to a song plus take Edutopia
test using the MI theory.
What you learned:
I did not like the project at all. I am not a creative person when it comes to lyrics, songs
and or music. So with that being said, this one was tough. I knew this one would be a
challenge for me and that is why I decided to do this project first. Whew! What I learned
from this project is that I confirmed that I do not like music and the creation of music
and the cords, rhymes, lyrics, etc. It is funny that after I took the Edutopia test my selfassessment results also show it. I scored very low on musical and bodily kinesthetic. I
know the reason I scored lowest on body-kinesthetic is that I am also not a very active
person. I would describe myself as an interpersonal and naturalistic person. As I look
back to what teachers I enjoyed during my times as a student it was those who did not
push their own interest and likes onto the student. For example, I use to have a teacher
who loved poems everything was a poem. It was terrible. I resisted everything she
said and all of the ways she presented it because I could not relate to poetry. PS. I did
my song about the disappearance of Dinosaurs because I want to someday teach
science/ history.
National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS)T Addressed:
Standard #3- Model digital age work and learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative
professional in a global and digital society.
c Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and
peers using a variety of digital age media and formats. .
Application of Skills Learned for the Future:
The skill I learned in this project is to that when I become a teacher I need to be aware
of all types of learning styles and preferences. Like I mentioned above, just because I
do not like music that does not mean that my students will not like music. I need to
incorporate some lessons where we can apply and use music. Likewise, with other
topic areas on the MI theory assessment. Overall, we are all very different, and we must
try to work with and understand all types of people rather they be intrapersonal or
interpersonal.
