Graffiti Painting Reflection

Student Name:
Lonnie Barton
Date:
10/29/2015
Portfolio Artifact Description:
Graffiti Painting - adding artwork, pictures and drawing to a photo using Paint.
What you learned:
I was never a big fan of Microsoft Paint. It is very difficult to use and it does not lend
itself to be very forgiving once you make a mistake. It is exactly like you said in your
description about painting a mural on your wall verses hanging up a poster on that
same wall. I am a much bigger fan of the programs that use a layered format. The
hardest part about this project was the introduction of clip art or other photos. It is
always difficult to merge 2 photos onto one using a paint program. Because, this is not
the most user friendly feature it forces you to become creative and to use your drawing
skills. For me this is scary because I can draw as good as a tired and hungry third
grader before lunch. This is obvious as you can tell from my project forgive me.
However, there is no doubt that this was a first of its kid permission and
encouragement to destroy the professor.
National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS)T Addressed:
Standard #1- Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity.
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology
to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both
face-to-face and virtual environments.
a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
Application of Skills Learned for the Future:
The skills learned for the future is that if I were to create something for my students I
would always and most likely use a layered format program. Something like
PowerPoint, or Photoshop or even Word. I am not very comfortable using Paint
therefore I know that I will use it in a very very limited fashion if at all in the future. This
project could be a fun project to do with students. They first draw physically on printed
photos the cruel and mean things they would like to do to me then I would have them
replicated the same picture on the computer. Like you stated, this is a fun project to do
around Halloween time.
