INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1. As an artist working in the realm of educational technology, how do you stay

updated on the latest trends and developments in both fields, and how does this
influence your creative process?

I watch videos on the latest trends and try to apply them when I can. I also attend
conventions or shows (MANILA FAME, PIFS, World BEX) to learn more about the
different technologies used in producing products.

2. In what ways do you believe integrating art into educational technology can
benefit fellow students, particularly in terms of improving learning outcomes or
making complex concepts more accessible?

I think art can make learning more accessible to students because it could allow different
methods of learning based on the students' learning styles. By producing materials based
on the students’ needs, educators can become more exciting and interesting for students.

3. As a student artist exploring technology, what areas do you feel most passionate
about innovating or improving, and how do you plan to leverage your artistic
talents to address these areas?

For both interior design and product design, I think I want to improve how we make
buildings and products using indigenous materials which could help in providing livelihood
opportunities for communities in the country. I plan to do this by studying the different
kinds of materials readily available in the country and try to make use of these in
developing. I would also like to study how ventilation was done in the country before air
conditioners were introduced, so that we could also lessen our energy consumption.

4. Can you share any experiences where you've utilized your artistic skills to
enhance your own learning using technology, and how it impacted your
understanding or engagement with the subject matter?

I am able to use technology to enhance my own learning through the use of SketchUp. It
allows me to visualize and create a 3D model of my projects digitally before I make the
actual product or room design. It also helps in decision making for bigger projects and
helps in visualizing the correct dimensions and measurements.
5. How do you see the integration of immersive technologies, such as virtual reality
or augmented reality, influencing the design of educational spaces, and what role
do you envision interior designers playing in creating these futuristic learning
environments?

I think the use of immersive technology can help in designing classrooms for students
because it could help in visualizing how the room looks. However, I still think that it would
be more beneficial for both the students and teachers to hold class in a traditional
classroom because it could help teachers regulate their students and students may be able
to focus and understand more without technology. I think interior designers can help in
making classrooms more attractive to students and maybe incorporate some technology
into these spaces that are not a distraction. I still think that learning with minimal
technology is still the best way to go when it comes to teaching students, especially young
ones.
