ome inquisitive young

minds were in for a
special surprise on Friday,
December 11th when the
Minnedosa Fire Department unleashed Sparky
the Fire Dog in their Grade
One-Two classroom at
TCS. Th e unsuspecting
students are working on a
Social Studies unit about

Our Local Community

highlighting the important
responsibilities members
of a community play, so
teacher Stacey Silverthorn
along with student teacher
Robyn Comrie, decided to
invite our local volunteer
firefighters to do a presentation. Stacey said, we
have been working to instill the value of being part
of a community by show-

ing appreciation for the

important jobs that people
in Minnedosa do each day
that create a happy, safe
environment for each of us
to live in. She also added,
We are promoting the
value of community along
with an understanding that
each of us connects to one
another in ways that we do
not always realize because
Minnedosa is a special part

of each of our identities.

Members of Minnedosas Fire Department, Deputy Fire Chief Mike Kowal,
and his son, Jonathon
Kowal along with Sparky
the Fire Dog, handed out
toy fi re helmets and other
informative
take-home
presents for the students.
Mike and Jonathon taught
the children what to do
in case of an emergency,

all of his heavy fire gear on

firefi ghters look like when
